End of Project Evaluation for 6,000 Solar Direct Drive (SDD) Cold Chain Equipment Project in Ethiopia.

Within the framework of the Strategy for Strengthening the Supply Chain for vaccines in Ethiopia, the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) requested support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in procuring, shipping, organizing in-country distribution, installation and commissioning of 6,000 Solar Direct Drive (SDD) refrigerators to health facilities in nine regions of the country namely Afar, Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Gambella, Oromia, Sidama, SNNPR, Somalia, and Tigray. This project was titled as ‘Solar Direct Drive Cold Chain Equipment Project in Ethiopia 2018-2020’. The FMoH in collaboration with UNICEF desired to undertake an End Project Evaluation (EPE) to gather important findings and recommendations which address any outstanding issues and ensure success of the whole project, while allowing planning for new projects including the current and upcoming Gavi Cold Chain Equipment Optimization Platform (CCEOP). ABH designed and implemented the entire assignment..

We successfully finalized the commissioning of the first of its type 1.5T MRI and 128 slices with our supplier United Imaging Healthcare at Washington Medical center and we have an ongoing project to Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service, EPSS the then EPSA to install 141 SV-600 mechanical ventilators. This will make the total number of mechanical ventilators supplied to the Federal ministry of health; 641 units which is making ABH partners the leader second to none. In addition to these, there are still many projects on pipe line to be supplied to public and private sectors.
