SafeCare Officially Launched in Ethiopia: ABH Partners Becomes the Official SafeCare Certifying Partner
ABH Partners has officially launched the SafeCare initiative in Ethiopia, a globally recognized, quality improvement program developed by PharmAccess.
The launch establishes ABH Partners as the licensed SafeCare certifying partner, formalizing a critical collaboration with PharmAccess and the FDRE Ministry of Health (MoH) to institutionalize sustainable quality improvement initiative across Ethiopiaโs private health sector. The ๐๐๐ต๐ถ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป (๐๐๐) will support this initiative by mobilizing the private sectors.
The official launch workshop, which began on October 09, 2025, brought together high-level key stakeholders from the government, international community, and the private health sector, including;
Mr. Deneke Ayele - Health System, Quality & Innovation Desk Lead at the FDRE Ministry of Health
Mr. Henok Hailu - Focal for healthcare accreditation at the FDRE Ministry of Health
- Mr. Frank van de Looij - First Secretary Health and SRHR at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ethiopia
- Ms. Roelinde Bakker - Director of SafeCare at PharmAccess and Ms. Daniella Vento - Business Development Manager of SafeCare at PharmAccess
- Mr. Andargachew Gashu โ CEO at Ethiopian Healthcare Federation (EHF)
- Ms. Adey Abate โ Executive Director of Cure Ethiopia International Childrenโs Hospital alongside the leadership team from ABH Partners Dr. Markos Feleke - CEO, Dr. Mengistu Tafesse - COO, and Dr. Amare Derbew โ Director of Alliance Consulting.
The workshop featured crucial insights, including the opening remarks made Dr. Markos & Mr. Frank which emphasized quality and safety as a corner stone of achieving Sustainable Development Goal and Universal Health Coverage. They underlined the significant impact that active private sector engagement will have in this era of changing foreign aid. Further highlights included Mr. Henok Hailu's overview of the Ethiopian Healthcare Accreditation Program, Ms. Roelinde Bakker's details about SafeCare and its experiences at African countries like Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria, & Ms. Adey Abate's valuable reflections on Cure Hospital's experience at SafeCare. The active participation made the session truly vibrant.
The initiative was formally cemented at a landmark agreement signing ceremony. This milestone agreement between PharmaAccess and ABH Partners aligns with Ethiopiaโs national health policy and the SDG commitment to ensure quality, safety, and equity in healthcare for all.
