RESEARCH AREAS OF ABH PARTNERS
Designing, planning and conducting surveys is one of the core services of ABH. In addition to in-house capacity, ABH has a network of local and international researchers who can be engaged in surveys requiring specific technical knowledge and expertise as needed. ABH ensures the collection of reliable and valid data to inform programmatic and policy related issues in the country by closely monitoring all stages of the data collection process.
PHASE I: PRE-DATA COLLECTION
During this phase, ABH recruits qualified individuals with experience in field data collection.ABH trains data collectors on the objective(s) of the survey, detailed methodology and tools employed. Before field deployment,
ABH ensures that the field data team has the necessary technical knowledge and skill using interactive training sessions, pilot field practice and end of training evaluation.Training of data collectors also includes a session on guiding ethical principles and specific action(s) to be taken in the field for anticipated research issues.
PHASE II:DURING DATA COLLECTION
During the data collection process, the major task is ensuring data quality in terms of data accuracy and completeness. For this purpose, ABH hires supervisors who ensure the implementation of planned sampling procedures and monitor the completeness, consistency and accuracy of the data collection on a daily basis, including revisits of sampled data sources to double-check. Currently, ABH uses mobile devices for electronic data collection using various platforms such as Open Data Kit (ODK), CSPro, Redcap, and Magpie databases/ application software.
This allows ABH to engage in almost real-time monitoring of the data collection progress and data quality control with the ability to provide immediate on the spot feedback and corrections to the field team. Consent is obtained for all data collected in line with the ethical guidelines and measures are undertaken to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of the collected information.
PHASE III: POST DATA COLLECTION
After the data is collected and transferred to the central database, it is secured and utilized only for its intended purpose. Data analysis is conducted by experts using appropriate software and a report is produced by the lead researchers to be shared with the client and, if needed, a debriefing meeting is held. After incorporating feedback obtained from the client, a final report is submitted to the client as per the agreement.Throughout all these stages, ABH follows national and international ethical principles and standards. All experts employed by ABH are trained and expected to adhere to these principles.
