Jimma University graduates 97 in Maters degree from its campus from Campus atABH SERVICES in Addis Ababa


July 9, 2015, Addis Ababa- Jimma University in collaboration with ABH SERVICES PLC has graduated the first batch of the graduate program in Addis Ababa on July 9, 2015 in the presence of high ranking government officials, members of the university senate and other invited guest at Sheraton Addis Hotel. The total of 97 graduates have been studying in Maser of Business Administration, 69, and Master of Public Health, 28, for two years in Addis Ababa following the inauguration of the program in January 2013.

The Chief Executive Officer of ABH SERVICES PLC, Dr. Markos Feleke, presented the performance report of the collaborative program. Dr. Markos cited that program has presented unique opportunity for those who can’t travel out of Addis to attend such program, contributed to further promotion of Jimma University’s signature Community Based Education (CBE), and benefited some residents of Addis Ababa city from the CBE interventions. In addition, Dr. Markos mentioned that the partnership of the two institutions has proven to be a good example of Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the higher education sector and that the university and ABH were able to generate income after covering all costs related to the program. The program will be scaled up to other tracks and PhD level training in the future.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. FikreLemessa, President of Jimma University reiterated the commitment of Jimma University in making its highly demanded programs to potential candidates without necessarily travelling to Jimma by partnering with various institutions like ABH Services PLC.

The guest of honor, Mr. Abulaziz Mohammed, Vice President and Bureau Head for Civil Service and Good Governance of Oromia Regional State emphasized that the role of the higher education sector is vital for the transformation of the agriculture led economy to industry led one and appreciated the contribution of the partnership between Jimma University and ABH Services PLC for demonstrating exemplary public-private partnership in that regard.

The graduate program in Addis Ababa has enrolled 450 students so far and is accepting application for the fourth intake in MBA and 3rd intake in MPH programs.
